Montgomery was 4-6 with 4.60 ERA in 16 starts for Seattle. He lasted just 1 1-3 innings against Oakland on Tuesday and was charged with five runs and seven hits. Seattle made the moves yesterday.

SEATTLE (AP) – Washington coach Chris Petersen is keeping his starting quarterback a secret until taking the field for Friday night’s season opener at No. 23 Boise State. Petersen said yesterday the Huskies decided the best move for their program was withholding the name of their starting quarterback, in part to limit distractions heading into the opener.

SEATTLE (AP) – Obafemi Martins scored his 10th goal of the season in the opening minutes, Brad Evans converted a disputed penalty kick just before halftime and the Seattle Sounders beat the Portland Timbers 2-1 yesterday.
