CHICAGO (AP) – Carlos Rodon took a shutout into the seventh inning, Adam Eaton had three hits and scored three runs, and the Chicago White Sox beat the Seattle Mariners 4-2 last night. Jose Abreu and Trayce Thompson had RBI doubles for Chicago. Roenis Elias (4-7) gave up four runs and nine hits in 6 2/3 innings for Seattle.

CHICAGO (AP) – Seattle Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager is not in the lineup for their game last night against the Chicago White Sox. Manager Lloyd McClendon said Seager was getting a day off and would be back in the Mariners’ lineup today against the White Sox. Seager said he was fine physically.

CHICAGO (AP) – The playoff-contending Chicago Cubs have acquired struggling reliever Fernando Rodney from the Seattle Mariners for cash. The 38-year-old Rodney had been designated for assignment by Seattle last Sunday. Rodney was 5-5 and had gone 16 for 22 in save chances this season. The right-hander had a 5.68 ERA in 54 games. Rodney was an AL All-Star closer last year when he posted a Mariners-record 48 saves.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson says he did not suffer a concussion in the NFC championship game against Green Bay, a day after comments in an article in Rolling Stone indicated Wilson may have suffered a head injury. Wilson took a big hit in the first half from Green Bay’s Clay Matthews but remained in the game and led Seattle’s late comeback for a 28-22 overtime win over the Packers.
