Here is the latest Washington, Oregon and Alaska sports news from The Associated Press

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – Eddie Rosario finished a single shy of the cycle and drove in three runs to help the Minnesota Twins snap a four-game skid with a 9-5 victory over the Seattle Mariners last night. Aaron Hicks and Brian Dozier also homered for the Twins, who had lost 10 of their previous 12 games. Phil Hughes (10-6) gave up five runs on 10 hits and struck out five in five innings and Joe Mauer extended his hitting streak to 11 games.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) – The New York Yankees have acquired utility player Dustin Ackley from the Seattle Mariners for a pair of minor leaguers. New York sent right-hander Jose Ramirez and outfielder Ramon Flores to the Mariners in the deal completed yesterday, a day before the non-waiver trade deadline.

BURBANK, Calif. (AP) – Southern California has been picked to win its first Pac-12 football title since 2008 in a preseason media poll. The Trojans received 21 of 45 votes for the title, edging defending champion Oregon. The Ducks got 17 votes for the top spot and were picked to win the North division, while USC is favored to win the South. Oregon has won four of the last six league titles.

WILLOW, Alaska (AP) – The warm summer taking over Alaska might not evoke images of the state’s most famous dog sled race, but Iditarod winner Dallas Seavey is focused on the cold journey ahead. KTVA-TV reports that Seavey, who has won the last two Iditarod races, has recently installed a treadmill inside a 50-foot refrigerated trailer to keep his team in shape.
