Emeralds use late game runs for win… again

For the second night in a row the Eugene Emeralds scored a go-ahead run in the seventh inning, then held on for a Northwest League victory over the Indians in Spokane.

Last night it was four runs in the seventh for the 6-4 win.

Donnie Dewees hit a two run homer in the third and also doubled home a run in the seventh. He had three RBI on the night.

The Ems and Indians meet again tonight, tomorrow and Sunday. Eugene will have three days off before returning to PK Park Thursday.

Siuslaw Hall of Fame honors championship teams

The Siuslaw Boys golf team recorded back-to-back state championships under coach Art Weston in 1993 and 1994. The margin of victory in 93 was by seven strokes over the Taft Tigers. In 94 it was much closer as Siuslaw won a sudden death playoff over Silverton. Nelson Arblaster was the common denominator on both teams, scoring a 156 and finishing in the top ten each year.

Both teams, along with the 1988 Siuslaw Cheerleading team will be inducted into the Siuslaw High School Hall of Fame this evening at the Florence Events Center… doors open at 5:30, tickets are ten dollars.
