HOOD RIVER, Ore. (AP) – A sheriff says a St. Helens man has shot and seriously wounded himself after a police pursuit on Interstate 84 in the Columbia River Gorge. Hood River County Sheriff Matt English said late last night that Jerome Matilton was being sought after a reported domestic violence incident in The Dalles. The man was hospitalized in grave condition.

GEORGE, Wash. (AP) – Authorities say they’re investigating a 22-year-old Portland man’s death after a music festival in Washington state last weekend. Officials say Beau B. Brooks died Sunday at a hospital in Wenatchee. The sheriff’s office said early indications suggested the death could be drug or heat-related.

ROSEBURG, Ore. (AP) – A plugged water intake at a southern Oregon fish hatchery has left 400,000 baby salmon dead. Wildlife officials say a fish carcass plugged an intake at the Rock Creek Hatchery on the North Umpqua River, causing water to drop in a raceway where fish were being raised for release next spring.

PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) – A new statue paying homage to the queen of the 1929 Round-Up has been unveiled in Pendleton. The East Oregonian reports that about 60 people were there Saturday when the bronze statue of Kathleen McClintock was revealed. The statue now joins bronze images of two famous rodeo cowboys and a brothel madam.
