Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon Senate has endorsed a bill that would allow people to sue if they’re sanctioned by an employer for discussing pay. Senators approved the measure in a 17-13 vote that fell largely on party lines. Most Democrats say the measure would help women who make less than their male peers. They say women who don’t know they’re underpaid can’t fight for a fair wage. Republicans say it will expose businesses to the potential for expensive lawsuits and require them to keep cumbersome paperwork to justify their salary decisions.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Authorities say a body has been recovered from Eugene’s sewage system. Police say the body was in a concrete underground well at a pump station. Police said the gender hasn’t been determined, and there’s no information about how it got into the well. An autopsy is planned.

ASTORIA, Ore. (AP) – Federal wildlife officials are investigating a string of sea lion shootings on the Oregon coast. The Humane Society of the U.S. and another group are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of those responsible for the shootings. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says 10 California sea lions and one harbor seal were shot and killed during the months of April and May.

MCMINNVILLE, Ore. (AP) – An inmate who’d been moved to a medical observation cell has died in the Yamhill County Jail. The inmate was identified as 34-year-old Jed Hawk Myers of McMinnville. The sheriff’s office says he was taken into custody May 24 on warrants for parole and probation violations. An autopsy is scheduled.
