North Bend sweeps Siuslaw in baseball and softball

A pair of late game rallies fell short yesterday for the Siuslaw Vikings, and the North Bend Bulldogs held on for a 7-6 Far West League softball win in Florence. Anna Stonelake accounted for half of the Vikings’ two hits. She was two-for-four at the plate with a single and a double, Nikki Launius drew two walks and scored twice. The Lady Vikings will host South Umpqua for two games Friday afternoon.

On the baseball diamond… Siuslaw fell to the Far West League leading Bulldogs 5-nothing at Clyde Allen Ballpark in North Bend. They will travel to South Umpqua for two games Friday.

On the track…

The Siuslaw Girls brought home the team trophy from a four-way meet in Philomath with 84 points. Cascade was second with 78; Philomath was third with 73; North Marion trailed in fourth with 28 points.

For the boys, Philomath came out on top with 99 points. Cascade was second with 67 followed by Siuslaw in third with 55. North Marion was fourth with 36.

Kennedy Pendergrass won the 400 meters for the girls; Sierra Potter won the 3-thousand with a personal best time of 11.16.14; Mikaela Siegel won the 100 meter hurdles and Stevie Miller found victory in the 300 hurdles. Carissa Oliver won the discus; and the 4-by-400 relay team of Celie Mans, Kaylee Graham, Magdalena Akeson and Mikaela Siegel finished first.

For the boys, Seth Campbell won the 800 meters with the fastest time so far this year in the 4A: 1:59.09. Jonathan Griffes won the 15-hundred with a personal best time of 4:31.63; Trent Reavis the javelin, also with a personal best; his was 143-feet-six-inches. Billy Jones wrapped up the individual victories in the long jump.

Siuslaw will be at the Grants Pass Rotary meet Saturday.
