GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) – Oregon’s mountain snowpack is in the midst of another miserable year, posting record low depths despite normal precipitation. Measurements show 16 percent of normal for the Willamette Valley, 28 percent for central Oregon, 18 percent for the Rogue-Umpqua region, and 17 percent for the Klamath Basin.

HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – A judge in Hillsboro will decide today whether to send the co-founder of Dave’s Killer bread to a state mental hospital or allow him to remain free with conditions. Dave Dahl was found guilty except for insanity on assault charges related to a police chase and crash in 2013 in Washington County. The Oregonian reports the court judgment put Dahl in the jurisdiction of the state Psychiatric Security Review Board.

NEWPORT, Ore. (AP) – A Coast Guard helicopter crew helped rescue an injured 50-year-old man from the South Jetty in Yaquina Bay on the Oregon coast. The helicopter crew hoisted the man from the jetty and took him to an ambulance waiting in a nearby parking lot. He reportedly had fallen and suffered a spinal injury.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – The Ohio State University is cashing in after the Buckeyes’ national championship victory. The Columbus Dispatch reports the university expects a $3 million increase this year in royalties from licensed merchandise sales as fans continue to buy national championship gear and keepsakes. The Buckeyes defeated the University of Oregon, 42-20.
