JUNCTION CITY, Ore. (AP) – The Junction City fire chief says traffic delayed the response to a fire yesterday that destroyed a commercial building. Chief Carl Perry tells KVAL the traffic interfered with setting up apparatus and laying lines and limited the available water. There were no injuries in the fire.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – A former Ashland High School volunteer swim coach who was given probation last year for a sexual relationship with a team member has been sentenced to prison. The Mail Tribune reports 26-year-old Camren Mitzel was charged with violating his probation by contacting the girl over the Internet and trying to lure her to Georgia where he had moved.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A 30-year-old autistic man who worked as a cashier at a Lake Oswego grocery store is pleading guilty to theft charges for stealing gift cards. The Oregonian reports Ross Duckworth’s attorney said he was manipulated by a woman he considered his girlfriend. Duckworth was sentenced to 15 days in jail and paid $2,500 in restitution.

FLORENCE, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police say a body discovered on a Lane County beach is that of a Washington state man reported missing Dec. 16. Police say foul play is not suspected in the death of 27-year-old Bryan McKinney of Wenatchee. He was identified through dental records. His body was found Saturday.
