Here is the latest Washington, Oregon and Alaska sports news from The Associated Press

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – The Seattle Seahawks have signed veteran fullback Will Tukuafu and linebacker L.J. Fort. Seattle announced the signings yesterday, a day after clearing the two roster spots by releasing wide receiver Phil Bates and tight end Brett Brackett. Tukuafu said he had been working out at the University of Oregon since being cut. Fort was on Seattle’s practice squad but was signed to the active roster in case Malcolm Smith (groin) is unable to play Sunday.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – Undrafted rookie Brock Coyle is expected to start at middle linebacker for the Seattle Seahawks this week against Oakland. Seattle has been without starting middle linebacker Bobby Wagner since he suffered a toe injury against Dallas. K.J. Wright moved from the outside to the middle for the past two games against St. Louis and Carolina.

FRISCO, Texas (AP) – Michel scored on a penalty kick in the 84th minute and FC Dallas beat the Vancouver Whitecaps 2-1 last night to advance in the MLS Cup playoffs. The goal ended Vancouver’s four-game shutout streak. FC Dallas will play top-seeded Seattle in the Western Conference semifinals.

CHENEY, Wash. (AP) – Eastern Washington has decided to play its first game of the season early, real early. The Eagles will host Texas Southern on Nov. 14, and tip-off is at 8 in the morning. Coach Jim Hayford says his team is eager to start the season, so they decided not to wait until evening to play the game.
