The Eugene Emeralds took a brief one-nothing lead in the fourth inning last night; but, then the Hillsboro Hops exploded for six runs in the fifth. The Hops held on for a 9-2 Northwest League victory and a sweep of the two teams’ three game series at PK Park.

The Emeralds are 11-and-14 in the second half of the season, five games behind division leading Hillsboro with 13 games remaining in the season.

The Ems head out on the road to begin a five game series against the Everett Aqua Sox tonight.
