SEATTLE (AP) – Alex Bentley scored 22 points and rookie Chiney Ogwumike had 14 points and 10 rebounds yesterday, helping the Connecticut Sun beat the Seattle Storm 86-63 to snap a three-game skid. Connecticut (10-13) had lost seven of eight. Bentley scored 16 points during the first half. Ogwumike got into double figures for the 20th time in her first 21 games. The double-double was her eighth. Kelsey Bone added 16 points off the bench. Camille Little had 14 points for the Storm (9-15), who have lost two in a row and three of four. Crystal Langhorne had 11 points and Sue Bird 10 for Seattle.

SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle will start Hisashi Iwakuma, Felix Hernandez and Young against the Angels when play resumes after the All-Star break, with Roenis Elias lined up to start against the New York Mets. Seattle is 51-44 at the All-Star break, among the best records in the American League. Manager Lloyd McClendon said taking two of three from Oakland, which has the top mark in the majors, was a great way to finish the first half.

UNDATED (AP) – Eastern Washington is favored to defend its Big Sky Conference football title, according to polls of coaches and media members that cover the league. The top six teams in both polls are the same, with Montana second, followed by Montana State, Cal Poly, Northern Arizona and Southern Utah. EWU received all 12 of the possible first-place votes in the coaches’ poll. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own teams and Montana received the other first-place vote in the coaches’ poll.

DUPONT, Wash. (AP) – Eun Jeong Seong shot an 8-under-par 64 yesterday to win medalist honors at the U.S. Women’s Public Links Championship. The 14-year-old South Korean had eight birdies and the rest pars at The Home Course to set tournament records for lowest round and lowest two-round total, 134.
