SEATTLE (AP) – Felix Hernandez allowed one hit over eight innings while striking out nine, and Robinson Cano (kan-OH’) backed him with a two-run homer in the Seattle Mariners’ 3-0 victory over the Cleveland Indians yesterday. Hernandez allowed just Lonnie Chisenhall’s single in the fifth inning and walked three in picking up his 10th victory of the season. Fernando Rodney earned his 23rd save with a perfect ninth inning.

KLAGENFURT, Austria (AP) – Triathletes Linsey Corbin of Bend, Oregon, and Ivan Rana of Spain won the Ironman Austria yesterday. Corbin also won the event in 2012. She finished the swimming, cycling and marathon in 8 hours, 42 minutes, 42 seconds. She beat the course record set by fellow American Mary Beth Ellis in 2012 by 56 seconds.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – Janel McCarville scored a season-high 22 points and the short-handed Minnesota Lynx beat the Seattle Storm 74-69 last night. Maya Moore added 14 points for the Lynx, who have won three of four. Devereaux Peters had 12 points and Lindsay Whalen scored 10. Seimone Augustus missed the game because of bursitis in her left knee. Sue Bird scored 21 points to lead Seattle and Jenna O’Hea added 14.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) – Devon Allen won the 110-meter hurdles in 13.16 seconds at the U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships yesterday after leader Ronnie Ash fell midway through the race. Allen, the college champion who doubles as a wide receiver at Oregon, edged Ryan Wilson by two-hundredths of a second for his first U.S. title.
