PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Friends and family say the 14-year-old shot and killed by a classmate at an Oregon high school earlier this month loved soccer, selfies and making people laugh. The Oregonian reports that a public service was held yesterday for Emilio Hoffman, the lone victim of the shooting June 10 at Reynolds High School in Troutdale. Emilio Hoffman was killed in the boy’s locker room by fellow freshman Jared Padgett, who later killed himself.

SEATTLE (AP) – The man charged with killing a student from Portland in a shooting at Seattle Pacific University is due to be arraigned today on charges of murder, attempted murder and assault. King County prosecutors say they will seek a life sentence for Aaron Ybarra. His lawyer has said Ybarra has a long history of mental issues. The June 5 shooting killed student Paul Lee of Portland. Two other people were wounded.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police say a man broke into a northwest Portland restaurant and stole 16 bottles of tequila worth over $3,000. Officers say the man smashed the front glass door of the Casa del Matador Restaurant & Tequila Bar early Thursday, kicked out a wood panel in the door to a storage room where the tequila bottles are kept.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – State agriculture officials have suspended the pesticide license of the tree care service responsible for spraying an insecticide blamed for killing 1,000 bees at a Eugene apartment complex. Glass Tree Care and Spray Service may also face a fine once the investigation is complete. The dead bees were found after the company sprayed 17 linden trees in bloom last week.
