SAN DIEGO (AP) – Rookie Jesse Hahn pitched seven strong innings and pinch-hitter Chris Denorifa singled in the go-ahead run in a four-run seventh for the San Diego Padres, who rallied for the second straight game to beat the Seattle Mariners 4-1 yesterday. Robinson Cano had three singles for the Mariners, who beat the Padres in Seattle on Monday and Tuesday.

SEATTLE (AP) – Danielle Adams hit a 3-pointer to tie it in regulation and scored five points in overtime to lift the San Antonio Stars to an 87-82 win over the Seattle Storm last night. Sue Bird scored 23 and Camille Little a season-high 20 for Seattle (5-9).

SEATTLE (AP) – Seahawks coach Pete Carroll has won the Jack Horrigan Award for his accessibility and enthusiastic cooperation with the media. Carroll received the award from the Professional Football Writers of America yesterday. The Horrigan Award is given to the league or club official for qualities and professional style in helping the pro football writers do their job.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – Jackson Jeffcoat’s resume almost made certain he would be picked on the first two days of the NFL draft. But he was not selected in last month’s NFL draft. Ultimately, the Seattle Seahawks signed him as an undrafted free agent, believing his pass rushing ability could work in the NFL despite being slightly undersized as a defensive end.
