FAIRVIEW, Ore. (AP) – The Multnomah County sheriff’s office has raided a home at Fairview as part of an investigation of white supremacist gang activity. Deputies and SWAT teams served a search warrant at 3 a.m. today and detained six people. The search is part of “Operation White Christmas,” the investigation into white supremacist gang witness tampering, drug distribution and firearms trafficking.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A Eugene man has been sentenced to eight years in prison for the death of his 92-year-old former mother-in-law, who died a week after he shoved her to the floor in an argument. The Register-Guard reports that William Brockamp pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter in the December death of Viola Kelly. He was sentenced yesterday.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon Court of Appeals has ruled that a sheriff’s deputy illegally searched a Jackson County man accused of crashing his truck into a ditch while driving home drunk. The court reversed the drunken driving conviction of Rickey Dale Charles and underscored its recent rulings on police searches.

TROUTDALE, Ore. (AP) – ODOT had hoped to open the Historic Columbia River Highway yesterday, but it likely won’t reopen until next week. The department says crews are still removing overhanging rocks that caused a June 5 slide that closed the highway at Troutdale.
