TROUTDALE, Ore. (AP) – Police say the 15-year-old gunman at Reynolds High School in Troutdale had an assault rifle, handgun and several magazines of ammunition during yesterday’s attack. Police also say an autopsy determined that Jared Padgett shot himself after killing a student and wounding a teacher. Police have not released a motive.

ASHLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Jackson County sheriff’s office says it will release information later today about a shooting yesterday morning involving a deputy at a home in south Ashland. Sheriff Mike Winters said nothing would be confirmed until investigators were ready. The Mail Tribune reports the shooting took place at the home of a man who was ordered evicted from his home after a lengthy foreclosure battle.

BEND, Ore. (AP) – A reward for information about who’s responsible for a wildfire burning near Bend has been increased to $14,500. Deschutes County Sheriff Larry Blanton says another suspicious fire was found yesterday near the southern flank of the fire in an area closed to the public. The main fire started in two locations Saturday, and threatened hundreds of rural homes.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Wildlife biologists say a bear that wandered into a Portland neighborhood will sleep off a dose of tranquilizers and then get an escort back to the woods. The 125-pound, 2-year-old male bear caused a stir this morning as police tracked it through several yards, and it climbed a tree. A wildlife officer shot it with a tranquilizer dart. Firefighters lowered it with ropes.
