Local Sports – AOTW – Baseball – OSU Has A New Coach

Siuslaw Track and Field standout Mack Marbas is Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the week.  The Viking distance runner qualified for the OSAA State Track and Field Finals in three vents last week at the Far West District meet; winning the 1500and 3000; plus running one le of the District champion 4×400 relay team.

 

Honorable mention is Give to Viking sophomore Taylor Dotson who was four-for-six at the plate with two doubles, three runs scored and four RBI I. Siuslaw’s double-header softball sweep over North Bend.

 

On the college diamond this afternoon, the number two ranked Oregon State Baseball squad will be at PK Park in Eugene for a non- league matchup against the Oregon Ducks.

 

Viking baseball will open post season play on the road Thursday, five PM against the Cubs in Newport.

 

Oregon State Basketball has a new head coach to replace Craig Robinson who was fired last month.  Wayne Tinkle spent the last eight years at the helm of the Montana Grizzlies, taking them to the NCAA Tournament three times during his tenure.
