CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – An Oregon teenager accused of building bombs and plotting an attack on his high school in Albany admitted to the allegations in juvenile court on Monday and was sent to a juvenile detention center. Seventeen-year-old Grant Acord appeared before a judge in Corvallis yesterday. In a deal with prosecutors, adult charges of attempted aggravated murder were dropped.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Neighbors discovered a 16-year-old boy apparently shot to death about 3 a.m. yesterday in a parked vehicle in northeast Portland. Police say the victim’s name will be released after an autopsy today. Police say neighbors heard gunshots about 1:40 a.m. but didn’t call police until more than an hour later when someone saw the body.
MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – Oregon’s famous wandering wolf, OR-7, may have found a mate. Wildlife authorities say cameras in the southern Cascades captured several images of what appears to be a black female wolf in the same area where OR-7’s GPS collar shows he has been living. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service biologist John Stephenson says it is not proof, but it is likely the two wolves mated and are rearing pups.
MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – A man who tried to blow up the Jackson County District Attorney’s office so he could delay his sentencing in a burglary case has pleaded guilty. Alan Leroy McVay admitted to taping a pipe bomb to a propane tank in November and throwing it at a window. The bomb never got through the window, and the propane did not explode.
