BEND, Ore. (AP) – A dispatcher for the Deschutes County sheriff’s office says the search is continuing this morning for a skier on Mount Bachelor. Deputies and the Mount Bachelor Ski Patrol believe 21-year-old Ryan Melorse DeYoung of Bend went past a “catch line” yesterday on the resort boundary. KTVZ reports DeYoung is described as autistic.
SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The 25-year-old woman shot and killed by a Salem police officer has been identified as Jacklynn Rashaun Ford. The Statesman Journal reports it was not clear where Ford lived, but records show that she had been in the Multnomah County Jail in February. Police say shots were fired after she ran from a traffic stop in northeast Salem. Police say a gun was found near the woman.
BATTLE GROUND, Wash. (AP) – Clark County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Battle Ground, Washington, man who fired a shotgun inside his home to scare off someone he saw going out an upper story window. It turns out the “intruder” early yesterday was one of several teens invited into the home by the man’s 15-year-old granddaughter who lives there. The Oregonian reports none of the fleeing teens were hurt.
SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Big donors are making their voices heard in Oregon’s Republican primary for U.S. Senate. Campaign finance records show three super PACs and a traditional political action committee have reported spending at least $956,000 supporting or opposing the two leading candidates, state Rep. Jason Conger and Portland physician Monica Wehby. Two outside groups funded by social conservatives are backing Conger, and two are backing Wehby.
