SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Authorities say a Marion County sheriff’s deputy and a cadet suffered minor injuries when their sport-utility vehicle crashed on Interstate 5. Oregon State Police troopers are investigating. Investigators say that about 8:40 a.m. yesterday the deputy lost control on wet pavement north of Salem. The SUV struck a concrete roadside wall and sign.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A public memorial is planned next month for Mick, a Portland police dog killed in a shootout. The shootout followed a burglary at a police equipment store and chase on April 16. Officer Jeff Dorn was shot in both legs; police say three men have been arrested and charged in the case. The memorial will be held May 12 at Hillsboro Stadium in Hillsboro.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – An internal Department of Human Services presentation shows a troubled vendor’s information technology modernization project is far behind schedule. The Oregonian reports that Oracle Corp. missed an October deadline, and a recent Department of Human Services review shows it’s only 11 percent complete. Oracle’s project failed health care exchange Cover Oregon was scrapped Friday.

COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (AP) -The owner and the former general contractor of a new hydroelectric plant at a dam in Oregon are fighting in federal court. Dorena Hydro and its general contractor, Mowat Construction, are accusing each other of bungling the project. Mowat claims Dorena Hydro provided shoddy plans, changed designs as construction progressed and didn’t pay $4.5 million. Dorena Hydro says Mowat failed to accomplish key tasks on time or on budget.
