Track and Field

North Bend claimed the team titles for both the boys and the girls at yesterday’s six-way Far West Track and Field meet in North Bend.

Siuslaw was fourth on both sides.

Seth Campbell won the 15-hundred in 4:19.82.  Mitchell Butler, running in the 800, was second at 2:07.83; and Nick McKenzie was second in the Discus with a throw of 121’7”, bettering his previous best by about two-and-a-half feet.

On the girls’ side, Mikaela Siegel won the 100 meter hurdles with the fastest time this year in the 4A, 16.27 seconds; Abby Watkins won the Long Jump;  and Celie Mans the 800 meters.  Siegel also was second in the Triple Jump.

On the track this afternoon in Mapleton… several Mountain West League teams will be competing.

Diamonds Prove Heartbreakers for Siuslaw

Turning to the baseball diamond… the Vikings had the table set in the bottom of the seventh inning last night at home against the sixth ranked Brookings-Harbor Bruins… two on, nobody out and down by one run.  But the Bruins were able to shut down the rally and hold on to a 3-2 Far West victory in Florence.

On the softball diamond, things were tied up in Brookings in the bottom of the seventh, but the Lady Bruins had the bases loaded… and a batter; hit by a pitch; forced in the winning run.

Siuslaw lost 2-1.
