PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Oregon legislators and officials with the state’s troubled health exchange are considering whether to open the meetings of a legislative oversight committee to the public after journalists were told they could not attend. An attorney who specializes in public records matters says state law requires the meetings be open to the public. But Cover Oregon contends the committee didn’t meet the public meeting standards, because it consisted of briefings only.

SCOTTS MILLS, Ore. (AP) – A Clackamas County sheriff’s spokesman says the body of a 62-year-old Molalla, Ore., woman who was reported missing March 16 has been found in a rural area outside the small community of Scotts Mills. Earlier statements from the sheriff’s office said Janice Ernest suffered from bipolar disorder and was believed to be off of her medications, leaving her most likely “easily confused and disoriented.”

ALBANY, Ore. (AP) – The Linn County sheriff’s office says a 27-year-old Lebanon, Ore., man indicted in the January death of his 3-month-old son has been arrested on a charge of murder by abuse. The Register-Guard reports that deputies arrested Kyle Brown yesterday. No bail was set. The sheriff’s office says Brown was briefly alone with his son and his wife called 911 after finding the boy unresponsive.

ROSEBURG, Ore. (AP) – An Oregon woman who charged more than $12,000 on a credit card she stole from her father won’t serve jail time. The News-Review reports a judge sentenced 20-year-old Brandi Evers to probation and 20 days on a work crew.
