Ducks Down the ‘Cats

featureJason Calliste put the Ducks ahead for good with 4:22 remaining and Oregon upset then Number-3 Arizona  64-57 Saturday afternoon in Eugene.  Calliste led scoring for Oregon with 18 points; Jonathan Loyd added 16 as the Ducks greatly improved their chances of an NCAA tournament bid.  Oregon players considered the game a “must-win” after a six-game winning streak made them a possible “bubble” team for the NCAA postseason and gave them their fourth straight season with at least 20 victories.

In Corvallis, Oregon State held on in overtime for a 78-76 victory over Arizona State.  Eric Moreland led the Beavers with 16 points and a career high 19 rebounds.  Oregon State, the number ten seed in the Pac-12 tournament will face number seven seed Oregon Wednesday at six.

USC held off Oregon State 71 – 62 to win the Women’s Pac-12 Tournament yesterday afternoon in Seattle.  One year after finishing 12th in the conference, the OSU women could be headed for their first NCAA tournament berth since 1996.
