Here is the latest Washington, Oregon and Alaska sports news from The Associated Press

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Kent Bazemore threw an alley-oop to Wesley Johnson for the go-ahead dunk with 6.9 seconds left and the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 107-106 last night. Pau Gasol scored 22 points and the Lakers won their second straight, snapping the Blazers’ five-game winning streak. Jodie Meeks added 21 points.

GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) – Billy Hamilton bunted for a single and stole another base yesterday before the Seattle Mariners rallied for a 6-5 victory over the Cincinnati Reds. Brad Miller hit a solo homer for Seattle and Chris Taylor had a grand slam off minor leaguer Chad Rogers.

PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) – Robinson Cano had two hits and an RBI and Dustin Ackley’s had a three-run double among his two hits, as the Seattle Mariners beat the Colorado Rockies 8-1 yesterday. Cano, who signed a $240 million, 10-year contract, with Seattle this winter, had an infield single as one of his hits. Seattle starter Blake Beavan allowed a run and four hits in three innings.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) – A four-time champion has taken the early lead in the 1,000-mile Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. Martin Buser last won in 2002. He was the first to reach the checkpoint at Rainy Pass, arriving at 5:42 yesterday morning. In second is Kelly Maixner, followed 11 minutes later by Nicolas Petit. The race normally takes about 10 days, but warm weather this winter in Alaska has prompted concerns about the trail.
