SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Gov. John Kitzhaber and the Sen. Jeff Merkley are hailing the Obama administration’s decision to let people get tax credits if they bought health coverage directly from an insurance company because of technical problems with Cover Oregon. Kitzhaber says the news means more Oregonians will be able to access affordable health coverage.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police say homicide detectives have been called to a northeast Portland mobile home park where an older man was found dead in one of the residences. A spokesman said the man was found yesterday afternoon at the Cedar Shade Mobile Home Park. The man was not identified and there was no immediate word on a cause of death.
GRESHAM, Ore. (AP) – Police in the east Portland suburb of Gresham say an SUV driver traveled 600 feet down light rail tracks before getting stuck on the inner rail. A man identified as 44-year-old Butch Stuckey of Portland was arrested for investigation of driving under the influence of drugs, reckless driving and methamphetamine possession.
SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon Senate moved to delay a measure that would loosen the requirements for which drunken drivers must use ignition interlock devices. The move yesterday comes after House members promised to fight the proposal. The bill was originally intended to sort out how reports of device tampering and test failures are handled. But it drew opposition after a Senate panel added a provision allowing judges to make exceptions for some drivers.
