featureSailor Season Ends

The Mapleton Sailors season came to an end last night as they fell to Crow 57-54 in a Mountain West Boys Basketball Playoff.  Tucker Ford led Mapleton with 26 points.  The Sailors ended the season 7-and-9 in league play… in fifth overall.

Beavers Hold Off Cougars

In Corvallis, Angus Brandt led the Beavers with 16 points and Oregon State completed a season sweep of Washington State with a 68-57 win last night.

It wasn’t a cakewalk though.

The Beavers scored first, but then the Cougars went on an early run before Oregon State got things going.  The Beavers pulled away in the second half, helped by 14-of-19 shooting at the free throw line in the final 7 ½ minutes.

The Beavers will host Washington tomorrow afternoon at one… the pregame show at 12:30 on KCFM.  Oregon will host Washington State Sunday evening at six… that game will air on KCST with the pregame at 5:30.

Prep Wrestling

Taking to the mats… the Siuslaw Vikings will have seven grapplers at the Far West – Skyline League regional wrestling meet in Phoenix.  The four top wrestlers in each weight class advance to the state finals next week in Portland.

 Back to Prep Basketball

On the court tonight… the Siuslaw Vikings will wrap up the season and honor their seniors as they take on the North Bend Bulldogs.  The girls tip off at six, the boys right after.  Airtime on Coast Radio Sports is at 5:45.

College Baseball

It’s back to the diamond today for Oregon and Oregon State baseball squads.

Number Two ranked Oregon State is at the Aramark Pac-12-Big-10 Tournament in Surprise, Arizona.  The Beavers will take on Nebraska today; Michigan State tomorrow and Indiana Sunday.  They’ll wrap up the road trip Monday against Washington.

Oregon opens a three game, weekend series against Loyola Marymount of Los Angeles today.
