FOREST GROVE, Ore. (AP) – Firefighters believe an explosion and two-alarm fire in Forest Grove early today was caused by someone making hashish oil, which is processed from marijuana using butane. KATU reports the fire was at a home near the Pacific University campus. There were five people inside at the time. One was taken to a hospital with burns. Drug investigators were called to the scene.

MILWAUKIE, Ore. (AP) – Police say a bicyclist who was struck by a car last night in Milwaukie was crossing a street against a traffic light. The man who was not wearing a helmet was thrown into the windshield and over the top of the car. Police say he’s hospitalized in Portland in critical condition.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland’s “water house,” the energy efficient demonstration home that was built by the Water Bureau at a cost of $940,000, has been sold for $395,000. The Oregonian reports Commissioner Nick Fish, who oversees the Water Bureau, signed a contract this week with a Portland couple who expect the deal to close at the end of January.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – More Oregon hospitals are imposing restrictions on visitors to guard against the spread of flu. Legacy Health announced yesterday that patients can have no more than two visitors at a time. But Grant Walker of Asante hospitals in Medford, Ashland and Grants Pass tells Medford Mail Tribune that its experts don’t believe there is a larger than usual number of cases so far.
