Joseph Young scored 24 points and Number 12 Oregon continued its best start in eight seasons with a 97-76 victory against Morgan State on Sunday.   Richard Amardi had a season-high 16 points in his first start of the season, and Damyean Dotson scored 15 points for the 12 and 0 Ducks, who are off to their best start since going 13-0 in 2006-07.  Oregon, the national scoring leader coming in, increased its average to 90.8 points per game and were a 3-pointer from a school-record fifth 100-point game this season.

Angus Brandt returned from an injury to score 21 points and lead Oregon State over Quinnipiac 76-68 on Sunday night.    Roberto Nelson added 17 points for the Beavers (8-4) and Hallice Cooke scored 12.  Quinnipiac was up 13-8 at about five minutes into the game, but then went nearly five minutes without scoring while allowing the Beavers to take the lead. Oregon State went up 39-29 after a 3-pointer by Nelson with 2:09 left, and that was the score at the half.

 

On the Schedule:

Oregon and Texas will be playing this afternoon before a sold out crowd in the 2013 Alamo Bowl.  The Ducks come into the game 10 and 2 on the season ranked tenth in the nation, while the Long Horns are 8 and 4.  ….  Longtime Oregon defensive coordinator Nick Aliotti announced Friday that he will retire following this evening’s game against Texas in the Alamo Bowl.   Aliotti has spent 24 years with the Ducks, including 17 as defensive coordinator. He said it was time to step away from football after 38 years in coaching, including a brief stint in the NFL with St. Louis as an assistant in the 1990s.  The Alamo Bowl is also the farewell game for Texas coach Mack Brown, who is resigning after 16 seasons.

The Alamo Bowl pre-game air on KCST at 2 o’clock, kick off is set for 3:35 in San Antonio.
