The Viking Wrestling Squad made it to the mats in Springfield Saturday, placing two grapplers on the medal platform.  Isaiah Burkhalter grabbed third place at 126 pounds; Markel Bliss was also third, he at 195.

Turning to prep basketball…. Several games were played… the Siuslaw Girls fell 37-54 to the Elmira Falcons Friday night, then lost to Cottage Grove 45-51.

The Reedsport Lady Braves went oh-and-three at the Phoenix Invitational… losing 37-38 to Del Norte, California; 34-56 to Phoenix, then 41-57 to Cascade Christian.

In Boys basketball the Siuslaw Vikings downed Elmira 48 – 35 Friday night, then fell 41-67 to Cottage Grove on Saturday.

The Reedsport Braves fell in all three games at the Phoenix tournament losing 12-65 to Phoenix; 36-70 St. Mary’s; and 41-49 to Rogue River.

Mapleton is on the court tonight for boys and girls basketball at home against McKenzie.

On the College Court

Oregon State and Arkansas-Pine Bluff finally got their game in Friday night with the Beavers coming out on top 77 – 63.  The Beavers beat Maryland Eastern Shore 98-66 yesterday afternoon in a runaway at Gill Coliseum.

Number 15 Oregon went on a late run Saturday evening in Portland to down Illinois 71-64 and improve to nine-and-oh.
