PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Clackamas County sheriff’s office says a climber who injured himself after falling more than 200 feet into a crevasse on Mount Hood is recovering at a Portland hospital. Officials say rescuers found 62-year-old John Richard Andrews late yesterday conscious and breathing. The Oregonian reports Andrews was with another climber near the Hogsback area of the mountain when he fell.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A federal judge has suspended the sentencing date of a young Somali-American man convicted of plotting to bomb a 2010 Christmas tree-lighting ceremony in Portland’s town square. The Oregonian reports the judge cancelled the date after the government’s admission last week that warrantless overseas wiretaps helped make the case against Mohamed Mohamud. New motions are expected to be filed.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Authorities have obtained recordings showing a Medford bomb suspect hoped that something, like an earthquake, would get him out of a sentencing hearing on a burglary charge. Forty-six-year-old Alan Leroy McVay is accused of admitting to detonating a propane tank explosion Nov. 13 at the county prosecutor’s office in Medford. The FBI says McVay was called by a jailed accomplice in the burglary case days before the bombing.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Coos County officials say a 54-year-old Lane County man has been indicted on a murder charge in the death of his half-brother. The Eugene Register-Guard reports Ladd Stewart Robson was arraigned yesterday in the killing of 61-year-old Lance Lucero last week in Myrtle Point. Prosecutors say Robson was arrested in Springfield hours after Lucero’s death.
