The Cardinal held off a furious late-game rally by the Ducks last night, but ultimately it was smash-mouth football that won the day as Stanford downed Oregon 26-20.  Tyler Gaffney ran for 157 yards and number six Stanford hammered number 2 Oregon for three quarters, jumping out to a 26-nothing lead and crushing the Duck’s national title hopes for the second straight season.

Kevin Hogan played a mistake free game for Stanford and the Cardinal put on a clinic in how to play keep-away from a team that was averaging more than 55 points a game.
