Here is the latest Washington, Oregon and Alaska sports news from The Associated Press

PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) – Taylor Kelly threw five touchdown passes and ran for two more scores as No. 25 Arizona State beat Washington State 55-21 last night. Kelly threw for 275 yards and rushed for 66 to help Arizona State qualify for a bowl and win its first road game of the season after two losses. Connor Halliday had 300 yards passing for Washington State, which has lost four of five.

UNDATED (AP) – At least at the start of the season, the focus for the Oregon State Beavers is on the players who aren’t on the court. Forward Eric Moreland will miss 14 games this season and forward Devon Collier will miss one for violating team rules. Coach Craig Robinson has never given the reason for the suspensions. Collier will be eligible to return Nov. 13 and Moreland will return for the Jan. 9 home game.

SEATTLE (AP) – Since he was charged with returning Washington to prominence, one of Lorenzo Romar’s biggest accomplishments is that he’s never gone more than two seasons without taking the Huskies to the NCAA tournament. But avoiding a third straight season without a trip the NCAAs will be Romar’s most difficult task going into the 2013-14 season. The Huskies are unproven in spots and filled with questions coming off an 18-16 season.

UNDATED (AP) – While Oregon lost four seniors from the team that made a run in last year’s NCAA tournament, the No. 19 Ducks added a couple of playmakers in guard Joseph Young, a junior transfer from Houston who averaged 18 points per game last season, and forward Mike Moser, a native Oregonian who played last year for UNLV. They’ll join sophomore standouts Dominic Artis and Damyean Dotson.

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – Defense may very well define both sides when Oregon State hosts USC tonight. Both teams are coming off strong defensive efforts – although with different outcomes. The Beavers fell 20-12 at home to No. 6 Stanford last weekend. The Trojans forced four turnovers, including three interceptions, in a 19-3 victory over Utah last Saturday.
