PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police responding to a report of gunfire about 1:30 this morning in southeast Portland found a body outside an apartment. Officers chased a vehicle leaving the area that crashed a few blocks away, and the driver ran away. Police are searching for the suspect as they investigate the shooting.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police say they’ve identified a man found dead with a gunshot wound in a vehicle in northeast Portland. Homicide detectives said the man found yesterday was 32-year-old Jose Manuel Alvarez-Madrigal. The Oregon state medical examiner plans an autopsy today.

BAKER CITY, Ore. (AP) – A court hearing for a 14-year-old boy accused of killing two Baker County men has been delayed because the state requested a different judge. Under Oregon law, an attorney is not required to cite a specific reason for seeking a new judge as long as it is not a delay tactic. The boy is accused of killing his foster father and another man at a hunting camp near Granite on Oct. 3.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Oregon’s health insurance exchange will not meet its goal of allowing online enrollment by the end of October. Officials at Cover Oregon announced yesterday that they’ll begin processing applications by hand. They say they’ve received more than 7,000 applications so far.
