Halloween activities for all ages…
There will be plenty of activities for kids tonight…
They range from something as casual as ‘drop in’ trick or treating at Spruce Point Assisted Living on 9th Street from 3:30 to seven… or at the Florence Justice Center from five to 6:30.
Or, it can be more organized like the “howl-le-luia” party at Florence Christian Church from six to eight… or Halloween Party at Three Rivers Casino from three to six which will feature to “bounce areas” and plenty of treats for kids of all ages.
Three Rivers will also host a costume contest for kids 21-and over beginning at eight pm.
Even the Oregon Lottery is getting in on the occasion with a special $1-million prize drawing at eight PM for their Halloween Raffle. Stacy Shaw, the lottery’s Assistant Director for Sales, says there will be 1,011 winners in all. In addition to the top prize, there will be ten $20-thousand payouts and one-thousand prizes of $100 each.
Rhody Express Route Changes Tomorrow
Transit riders in Florence will see a slightly different schedule for the Rhody Express Bus Service beginning tomorrow. Instead of stops at each location coming at the same time in the hour, it will change to a 70-minute schedule in which stops will be progressively ten minutes later.
The move is to accommodate a route change in which service will be extended to Three Rivers Casino.
Susan Hekimoglu, the Accessible Services Specialist with Lane Transit District, says the change also means the loss of one round-trip each day in the transit service.
The addition of the casino stop is on a one-year pilot program. It will be evaluated both by ridership counts as well as through public input.

Health Coverage Cancellations
Officials say about 150,000 Oregonians enrolled in individual health care plans will see those plans cancelled by the end of the year because the plans don’t provide the minimum level of coverage required under the new health care law.
State Insurance Division spokeswoman Cheryl Martinis said Wednesday those facing cancellations could see a break in coverage if they don’t enroll in a new plan on the state’s problem-plagued online exchange by Dec. 15.
But a month in, the state has not enrolled a single person. It has received more than four-thousand paper applications and its website still can’t tell people what subsidies they are eligible for.
