Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

CAVE JUNCTION, Ore. (AP) – A hit-and-run driver struck and killed two men early today on Highway 199 just south of Cave Junction. State Police say emergency responders found the 41-year-old and 21-year-old dead at the scene. State police and the Josephine County sheriff’s office are looking for a light-colored 1980s Toyota pickup with a canopy and front end damage. It was reported to have left the scene southbound.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The mother of a young Oregon girl who died after choking on a meatball at her preschool is seeking $7.6 million in a lawsuit against the Tualatin school and its owner. The Oregonian reports that the lawsuit alleges that Growing with Pride Preschool and Child Care and its owner, Lorinda Rule, were negligent in the January death of Zoey Frontella. The complaint says the 3½-year-old girl choked while eating lunch and died from respiratory and cardiac arrest the next day.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police are asking the public for tips to help solve hundreds of vehicle vandalisms in Portland. Police say more than 500 vehicles have had tires punctured since late May, causing more than $300,000 in damage.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – For the first time since seismic equipment was installed at Crater Lake National Park in 2001, three tiny earthquakes have been recorded. The quakes recorded Friday registered a magnitude of less than 1. Seismologist Seth Moran tells the Mail Tribune the Crater Lake area is not necessarily dead. It’s been 7,000 years since the dormant volcano last erupted and it could be a while before another eruption, but Moran says it’s worth monitoring.
