MYRTLE POINT, Ore. (AP) – A Myrtle Point man was injured after getting hit by a car driven by his grandmother. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office said 19-year-old Bobby Cruse sustained a fractured femur and abrasions when he was struck while walking near the family home Sunday. Officials say 60-year-old Patricia Cruse’s car went into a ditch and traveled up an embankment before striking the teen on a road.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police have arrested seven protesters at Portland’s main post office. A police spokesman says protesters concerned with labor issues tried to enter a secure area yesterday and one ended up in a scuffle with a postal inspector. All seven have been charged with criminal trespassing.
VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) – A Clark County sheriff’s officer says a parent was arrested at a Vancouver-area elementary school after storming into the principal’s office. Evergreen Public Schools says York Elementary was briefly placed on lockdown during yesterday morning’s dispute. . The Columbian reports authorities arrested 25-year-old Ciera Davis, who faces a fourth-degree assault charge.
BEAVERTON, Ore. (AP) – Reser’s Fine Foods says a recall of packaged salads produced at its Topeka, Kan., plant was prompted by a routine check of products sold in Canada. A U.S. Food and Drug Administration spokeswoman said yesterday that the Canadian Food Inspection Agency found a strain of Listeria in some ready-to-eat macaroni and cheese and, as a result, implemented a voluntary recall of affected products. Some 450 products sold under the name of Beaverton-based Reser’s and others were recalled.
