HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – A woman and her boyfriend have been arraigned on charges in the deaths of two girls who were run over by a car while playing in a pile of leaves in a Forest Grove street. Cinthya Garcia-Cisneros is charged with felony hit-and-run and her boyfriend, Mario Echeverria, is charged with hindering prosecution. Both are 18. The accident killed 6-year-old Anna Dieter-Eckerdt and her 11-year-old stepsister, Abigail Robinson.

HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – A motorcycle rider was killed last night in a collision with a car in Hillsboro. Police say the 23-year-old motorcycle rider was passing other vehicles when he collided with a car making a left turn.

GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) – Rep. Greg Walden, Oregon’s only Republican in Congress, has gotten a primary challenge from the right. Klamath County Commissioner Dennis Linthicum announced yesterday he will seek the Republican nomination for the 2nd District, which covers Eastern Oregon and the Rogue Valley.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) – A federal agency is taking the eastern population of Steller sea lion off the threatened species list. The animal’s eastern population stretches from Alaska’s Panhandle to Southern California’s Channel Islands. NOAA says the eastern population has met recovery criteria the agency set out in 2008.
