The Oregonian reports that a grand jury indicted Linus Norgren of Banks on five counts in all, including strangulation and unlawful use of a weapon. The man was arrested Oct. 10, after a hunter called 911 to say he was holding a nude assailant at gunpoint.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – An Oregon man has pleaded not guilty to charges of aiming a laser pointer at two commercial airliners. Stephen Francis Bukucs (BOO’-kuhs), a private security guard who lives in Portland, entered the plea in federal court in Portland yesterday. The 39-year-old suspect was indicted and arrested last week. Prosecutors say he admitted pointing a green laser light at aircraft at least 25 times and said he did it “for excitement.”

KENNEWICK, Wash. (AP) – A freight train has hit a couple walking a dog along railroad tracks in Kennewick, Wash. Police say a woman was killed Monday afternoon and a man was severely injured. The Tri-City Herald reports that officers say the man and woman were walking with a pit bull-mix dog just east of the Volland Street train overpass. The newspaper says the dog was injured and taken to a veterinarian.
