SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) – The FBI says a bank robber has been wearing the same jacket when robbing Oregon banks. Authorities say the jacket description of a man who robbed a U.S. Bank in Springfield yesterday is identical to a man who robbed a bank in Tualatin last month. Investigators say the man walked in holding a rifle wrapped in a blanket before leaving with money on foot.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A man killed near his North Portland home has been identified as 33-year-old Donte Alwakeel Young. The state medical examiner’s office said yesterday that Young died from a gunshot wound to the head. Neighbors told The Oregonian they heard a single gunshot Monday after seeing a group of young men arguing and then fist-fighting.

WINCHESTER, Ore. (AP) – Fire officials in the small southern Oregon community of Winchester say a 3-year-old boy playing with a butane “torch” lighter set fire to a toy, igniting a blaze that raced through his family’s mobile home. Douglas County Fire officials say no one was hurt in the Monday blaze. The Register-Guard reported yesterday the fire caused an estimated $9,000 in damage.

PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) – A Hermiston man accused of killing his wife three years ago has agreed to a plea deal. The East Oregonian newspaper reports that the attorney for Maurilio Lamas Sanchez told a judge Monday that his client would accept the offer. Police say Sanchez smashed a wine bottle over Hilaria Sanchez’s head, stabbed her and then used a bandanna to choke her.
