SEATTLE (AP) – Tarvaris Jackson led Seattle on three first-half scoring drives, and Terrelle Pryor struggled through his worst performance of the preseason with a chance at earning Oakland’s starting quarterback job in the Seahawks’ 22-6 preseason victory over the Raiders. Jackson led Seattle to a trio of field goals from Steven Hauschka, including kicks of 51 and 56 yards.

UNDATED (AP) – DJ Adams rushed for 107 yards and three touchdowns as Portland State coasted to a 57-17 win over Eastern Oregon last night at Jeld-Wen Field. The Vikings cruised to a big lead by shutting out the Mountaineers 36-0 in the first half. Adams ran for two first half TDs and Kieran McDonagh threw for two more. Roston Tatum had three catches for 159 yards.

HOUSTON (AP) – Franklin Gutierrez hit a two-run homer after Nick Franklin gave Seattle an early lead with a solo shot and the Mariners held on for a 3-2 victory over the Houston Astros last night to end a six-game skid. Franklin put the Mariners on top with his one-out homer off Jordan Lyles in the first inning. Raul Ibanez singled to start the fourth inning. Franklin Gutierrez’s homer to left field with one out pushed Seattle’s lead to 3-0. Gutierrez had three of Seattle’s six hits to finish a triple shy of the cycle.

SEATTLE (AP) – Tina Thompson and Camille Little each scored 18 points and the Seattle Storm beat the Connecticut Sun 78-65 last night to tie Phoenix for third place in the Western Conference. Temeka Johnson added 12 points and nine assists, and Shekinna Stricklen had 11 points for Seattle. The Storm have improved to 15-14 and reduced their magic number to clinch a playoff berth to one.
