HOOD RIVER, Ore. (AP) – The search has resumed for a Polish military man who failed to return from an attempt to summit Oregon’s Mount Hood. Hood River County sheriff’s Sgt. Pete Hughes says searchers plan to use a helicopter with equipment that can identify a signal from an international cellphone. Hughes says 32-year-old Sebastian Kinasiewicz has been in the United States for drone training at the Insitu (in-SIT’-yoo) company in Bingen (BIHN’-jihn), Wash.

FOREST GROVE, Ore. (AP) – The Forest Grove City Council meeting last night had a standing-room crowd, with most people complaining about the new Dream Girls Espresso stand. KATU reports they called it a public nuisance that’s too close to a convenience store where kids hang out. The owner says she’s trying to appease critics by banning the skimpiest outfits and telling baristas to wear only bikinis or lingerie.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Investigators believe a fire that gutted a five-story Portland apartment building was deliberately set. Fire Lt. Rich Chatman said yesterday that authorities are keeping details of the probe under wraps until they can find more witnesses. The department is offering a $2,500 reward for information that leads to a conviction.

LONGVEW, Wash. (AP) – The Cowlitz County coroner says a 29-year-old female county jail inmate has died at a Longview hospital where she was taken after showing signs of medical distress. The coroner said Stephanie Jo Deal of Longview appeared to be healthy. An autopsy and toxicology tests are planned. The Daily News reports Deal had been in jail for one week for a citation of third-degree driving with a suspended license. The newspaper says she had two young children.
