Here is the latest Washington, Oregon and Alaska sports news from The Associated Press

SEATTLE (AP) – Humberto Quintero’s two-run homer highlighted a six-run fifth inning, and the Seattle Mariners rallied for a 9-7 victory over Toronto yesterday to spoil the return of Blue Jays left-hander J.A. Happ. Happ made his first start since May 7, when he suffered a skull fracture and a sprained right knee after being struck behind the left ear by a line drive from Tampa Bay’s Desmond Jennings.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – A pair of minor injuries will keep James Carpenter and Bruce Irvin from suiting up in the Seattle Seahawks’ preseason opener against the San Diego Chargers tonight. The Seahawks have been excited throughout training camp at the promise shown by both of their former first-round selections but are eager to see it translate to game action. Both will have to wait another week before getting their first preseason action of the year.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – The Seattle Seahawks have released receiver Early Doucet after just one practice with the team. Doucet signed with Seattle last weekend and took part in Sunday’s practice. The injury-plagued receiver then sat out the next two days after stating “I feel good” following his only practice in Seattle. The league’s transaction report labels Doucet’s release as a terminated contract for “failing to disclose a physical condition.”

SANDY, Utah (AP) – Alvaro Saborio scored once and assisted on Joao Plata’s goal to lead Real Salt Lake to the U.S. Open Cup final for the first time with a 2-1 victory over the Portland Timbers last night. RSL will host DC United in the championship game on Oct. 1 after United beat the Chicago Fire 2-0 earlier in the evening. The winner of the final will qualify for a spot in the 2014-15 CONCACAF Champions League.
