HOOD RIVER, Ore. (AP) – A dispatcher for the Mount Hood sheriff’s office says a 10-year-old boy who fell while hiking with his father on Mount Hood has been rescued. The dispatcher says the boy was carried to a parking lot at 3 this morning and airlifted. No word on his injury or condition. The father said the boy fell down an embankment and was unable to climb out.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – The Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest say extreme fire danger has prompted additional restrictions on the Rogue Wild and Scenic River. Fires are prohibited except in camp stoves. Smoking is banned except on the water or a gravel bar. The national forest says hot, dry weather has raised the fire danger two to four weeks ahead of the average for this time of year.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A federal court has thrown out the conviction and 10-year sentence of a man accused of dropping off supplies to Oregon marijuana growers on the grounds that a detective botched a Miranda rights translation. The Oregonian reports the appeals court ruled last week in the case of Jeronimo Botello-Rosales, a native of Mexico living in California who grew up with English as a second language.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Multnomah County medical examiner’s office says a Vancouver man whose body was found in the Columbia River over the weekend committed suicide. Clark County deputies say 27-year-old Drake Johnson was a work release escapee. He had been arrested in March on drug-related charges and failed to show up July 17 at the county Jail Work Center.
