American Legion Baseball
The Mid-valley Rockets swept both halves of an American Legion double-header in Albany yesterday… downing the Three Rivers Sandblasters 9-4 and 6-4.
Jake Thompson had a two-run homerun in game one, but that was one of few bright spots on the day.
The Blasters are off the diamond until Saturday when they’ll be in Roseburg for two games.
Volcanoes Erupt
The Eugene Emeralds got off to a good defensive start, but the Salem-Keizer bats busted loose for eight runs over three innings and Volcano hitters knocked five balls out of the park in that time period for an 8-2 Northwest League win in Keizer. That gives the Volcanoes a 2-nothing lead in the five game series that continues tonight.
