HILLSBORO, Ore. The Oregonian reports Officer David Bergstrom will not face charges for wounding Gilberto Perez, who pleaded guilty in May to charges assaulting his pregnant girlfriend. He faces a seven-year prison sentence.

ST. HELENS, Ore. (AP) – Two swimmers are safe after being rescued by Columbia County sheriffs’ deputies and firefighters from the Columbia River near Sand Island. MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – Two sheep that were on the loose in Medford have been captured after nearly a year on the lam. The sheep had been crossing Interstate 5 and interfering with traffic. The Mail Tribune reports the goat-like Barbados sheep are now in the care of the Sanctuary One animal rescue operation.
