REDMOND, Ore. (AP) – The Deschutes County sheriff’s office says a toddler wandered away from a home at Redmond and fell into an irrigation pond on the property. Family members found the 18-month-old boy last evening, started CPR and called 911. Medics took over and the boy was revived. He was flown to Saint Charles Medical Center in Bend.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Clackamas County sheriff’s office is hoping for clearing weather today at Mount Hood to allow searchers to look for a climber who has been missing since Saturday. Poor visibility and avalanche danger this week have limited the search for 59-year-old Kinley Adams, a Salem dentist. Adams has been making frequent visits to Mount Hood in preparation for a climbing trip to Nepal.
LEBANON, Ore. (AP) – The personal cars belonging to 11 soldiers were vandalized while they were parked at an Oregon Army National Guard motor pool lot in Lebanon. Staff Sgt. John Parsons told KVAL that since the smashed windows were reported to police Monday, a local company, A-Plus Auto Glass, has offered discounts on windows and free installations. Others in Linn County have donated support.
SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Oregon parents who refuse vaccines for their children will have to visit a doctor or prove they watched an educational video before sending their kids off to school. Gov. John Kitzhaber signed the new requirement into law yesterday. Oregon has the highest rate of kindergarteners with nonmedical vaccine exemptions in the country. Supporters hope the new law will bring the rate down.
