SUNRIVER, Ore. (AP) – Rod Perry shot an even-par 72 in rainy conditions yesterday at Sunriver Resort to take the second-round lead in the PGA Professional National Championship. The 39-year-old left-hander had an 8-under 135 total after opening with a 63 on the Meadows course. Mark Sheftic and Chip Sullivan, the 2007 winner at Sunriver, were a stroke back after shooting 4-under 67 on the Meadows course.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – The Big Ten and Pac-12 are strengthening their postseason ties with a pair of matchups in California bowl games. The Holiday Bowl in San Diego and the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl in San Francisco announced six-year agreements yesterday for teams from each conference to play each other starting in 2014.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) – Kentucky forward Kyle Wiltjer is transferring to find a “significant” role elsewhere. The 6-foot-10 Wiltjer, who played with the Canadian national team this summer, made the announcement on Kentucky’s athletic department website yesterday. The Oregon native, whose father is a Canadian, was named the Southeastern Conference’s top reserve after averaging 10.2 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) – The Vancouver Canucks are expected to introduce John Tortorella as their new head coach today. Tortorella, the recently fired coach of the New York Rangers, arrived in Vancouver on Friday amid reports he was the choice to replace the fired Alain Vigneault. If all goes as expected, Tortorella and Vigneault will end up trading teams.

BOSTON (AP) – The Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup for the second time in four seasons with a stunning comeback, 3-2 victory over the Boston Bruins last night. Bryan Bickell and Dave Bolland scored 17 seconds apart in the final one minute and 16 seconds of the third period.
