COOS BAY, Ore. (AP) – The Coos County district attorney says he plans to file aggravated murder and arson charges today against a 65-year-old man accused of killing his wife and two neighbors and setting their homes on fire near the community of Bridge. The district attorney’s office says Edward Lawrence Nelson was stopped while driving Saturday night in Douglas County and jailed in connection with the fire and deaths.The World reports all three victims are believed to have been killed before the fires were set late Saturday.

REDLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Clackamas County sheriff’s office says a 5-year-old boy was flown to a hospital with serious facial injuries after a collision last night on a road near Redland. Deputies arrested a 72-year-old Oregon City man suspected of DUI. The sheriff’s office says he was driving a pickup truck that went out of control and collided with a car driven by a woman with two children. The woman suffered a broken leg.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Oregon park rangers say a loophole in the leash rule is allowing some dog owners to let their pets run free. The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department says some owners are letting their dogs run while wearing a leash. The Statesman Journal reported yesterday that rangers plan to ask the Oregon Parks and Recreation Commission to change the rule.

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) – A private investigator hired by the city of Springfield has failed to find sufficient evidence that a police captain had sex in the department’s weight room with a city employee he later married. The accusation against Capt. Richard Harrison was one of several included in an anonymous complaint received by the city last year.
