MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – A Central Point medical marijuana grower whose farms were raided in 2011 has been sentenced in Medford to 15 years in federal prison. Brian Simmons was convicted in December of conspiracy and manufacturing and distributing marijuana. Prosecutors say he abused the medical marijuana program by selling large amounts of marijuana for profit.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – An interim executive director for the Oregon Psychiatric Security Review Board could be appointed at the board meeting next Tuesday. The agenda lists the appointment after the board considers the resignation of Mary Claire Buckley who has been on paid leave since May 2 for a management review.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The retired former deputy director of the Oregon Office of Emergency Management, Dave Stuckey, has returned as director. The Oregon Military Department said it was important to have someone clearly in charge rather than an interim director. The Oregonian reports Stuckey replaces Martin Plotner, who was placed on leave last week for an investigation into complaints he retaliated and discriminated against some employees for their union activities.

HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – Fire officials say a private jet carrying five people has landed safely at Hillsboro Airport despite a problem with the plane’s front landing gear. Hillsboro Fire and Rescue spokesman Storm Smith says the pilot made several low-altitude passes yesterday afternoon so experts at the airport could see that the nose gear seemed to be deployed at an odd angle. Smith says the pilot maintained control of the Lear jet it landed.
